Black Banks River 1

One of my favorite things to paint are reflections in quiet water. There is just a magical dance that happens between the light, the sky, the water and the colors. The Black Banks river is a wonderful place to capture this magic!

I hope you had a Merry Christmas!!! For everyone who was dreaming of a "White Christmas", here is my version. Even though we are enjoying a mild winter (so far), we can always hope for a white Christmas next year!

Welcome!

This is a painting of the front entrance to our family's vacaton place. We have enjoyed it since 1974, and continue to enjoy it year round. I know my nephews like being here as it always makes for a great house party... and what goes on here, stays here... Good times!!!

Turquoise Mouse

I decided to have one more go at painting this catnip mouse. It really is fun to paint, but my cat "Beauty" has become annoyed that I have her favorite toy. I am getting a bit concerned as I overheard her saying something about my favorite shoes, and about not getting mad... but getting even.  Perhaps an offering of tuna or half & half can smooth things over- I hope.

Kitty Time!

Years ago, I was on a business trip in Germany with my family and some business associates. One day, we had some free time to shop, and I found this little timer in a kitchen shop in Cologne.  This little guy has such "pur-r-r-sonality", that it struck me as something that would be fun to paint... so I did!

BFF's

I decided to do a still life painting of this little brightly painted kitty I bought in Greece. My husband and I were there two years ago on the island of Santorini. It is quite spectacular, but we were only stopping there for the day, so I took photos, bought some souveniers and sampled the local baklava- YUM!
I paired this little kitty with the catnip mouse my real kitty "Beauty" loves to play with. I love the combination of these colors together. ("Beauty" just wants her mouse back!)

Two Best Friends

I wanted to paint this, because I love the way the birds "embrace" in the photo. I also love the shades of blue and orange reflected in the water.  I hope it brings a smile to your face.

St. Simons Island Pier

It has been a while since I posted a painting. I was out of town in St. Simons Island attending a painting workshop- what a great experience! We had gorgeous weather (most of the time). This is what I painted the first day. The newly refurbished St. Simons Island Pier (with the Sydney Lanier Bridge in the distance).

Beach Club Orchids

Orchids are so elegant. I had an aunt who used to raise them in a greenhouse, and they were magical! Today, orchids are still magical for me. Here is a view of a stunning arrangement in a beautiful shell shaped bowl. It is one of the first things that greets you when you enter the Beach Club at our family's favorite vacation spot.

Afternoon Cool Down

What's better that watching an approaching storm coming to cool things off. This view over the marsh is a favorite of mine. My family and I have watched many beautiful storms come across the marshes of Glynn county Georgia. Just when you thought the afternoon heat was too much, much needed relief often appeared in the form of what I like to call an "Afternoon Cool Down".

Beach Walk Breeze

I love walking the beach- especially on afternoons when the wind is blowing, bringing changes to the weather. With the bright blue sky, you can sense that fall is in the air!

Morning Light

Early morning at Sea Island, on the Georgia coast, is one of my favorite times of day. The coffee- strong, the air -fresh and the sunlight- dazzling! This was my view one morning as I started my walk to the beach. Days at the beach are always just better.

"Elvis" a.k.a. "The Boss"

No, I don't have my musicians mixed up- this is "Elvis".
Somedays, he is at the gym where I work out.
Elvis enjoys sunning himself at the front door - and he is also the official greeter. He may be small in stature, but his attitude is "large and in charge". Everyone there knows him and loves him. He belongs to the wonderful family who owns the gym... I've just never seen him actually working out!

The Cat's out of the Bag!

My nephew William found this very tiny tabby kitten on 7/07/07. He took this baby kitten to my Mom and Dad's house where he was instantly "adopted". They named him.... what else... "Tabby". Tabby is now full grown and is the sweetest, most laid back kitty ever. One day, Tabby decided he had to have my shopping bag for his very own. Who could deny such a sweetheart????  Kitties always know how to get what they want.

Afternoon Sail 1

Our neighbor at the beach has a small sailboat he goes out in most days. He sails down the tidal creek that winds through the marsh and off to another "afternoon adventure". I love sailing and sailboats- what a wonderful way to experience first hand the beauty of being on the water!

Feed Me!!!

My husband built this bluebird house and took an amazing photo of a bluebird feeding one of its' young. We have had several babies hatch this year. They are great fun to watch, and when the babies get to a certain size, it seems all the parents do is bring food... all day long!

Something's Fishy...

My sister brought me this beautiful fish from Bermuda. It has always been a favorite of mine so I decided it was time to paint it. It only seemed natural to add the lemons... as they always go well with fish.

Maybe after experimenting with mixing colors, I just wasn't in the mood to do another "green" tree,
so I decided to paint this pink dogwood. A nice change for now.... don't you think?????

Bunny in Blue

I painted this small bunny because he makes me laugh. He is one of two blue and white bunnies I bought at a small antique / gift store when I was visiting St. Simons Island... he looks like he is up to something...

The Pond at 1212

We have a little family vacation spot on the Georgia coast. It overlooks the beautiful "Marshes of Glynn" and also overlooks a great little fishing pond - my 2 nephews have fished and thrown in crab baskets in this pond many times, and have seldom come up empty. I hope you like this view up the river... it is so  peaceful and beautiful here.

St. Simons Island Marsh 1

One of my most favorite venues in the whole world is St. Simons Island on the Georgia coast. My family has been visiting this beautiful place at least once a year since I was 4 years old... as a matter of fact, it sometimes feels more like "home" to me than anywhere else. I have some dear friends and many great memories here,  I can't wait to get back!

Cows!

This is a familiar sight to anyone driving thru the countryside in Georgia on a hot summer day. These cows know how to stay cool. (I wonder if they are related to those famous cows we see on billboards all over Atlanta? Peach milkshake anyone???)

at least the geraniums seem to be enjoying it.

Waitin' for da Gumbo

Hot sauce is a family favorite. Ever since I can remember, my Dad has enjoyed it on just about everything! -  He passed this tradition on to my sister and me and his two grandsons... now, if I just had a little gumbo to go with the hot sauce....
